Passengers stuck in the Channel Tunnel due to a train failure in England were evacuated after waiting for hours. When the passengers, who described their experiences as ‘worse than a disaster movie’, shared the situation on social media, the incident suddenly became one of the number one news on the agenda.
Dozens of people died after a train from Calais to Folkestone broke down Channel TunnelHe was stranded for hours.
The images showing that the passengers of the train, which serves under the name ‘Eurotunnel Le Shuttle’, were evacuated from an emergency service tunnel after they had to leave their wagons, caused a great stir on social media.
After hours of horror, the stranded survivors were transferred to a backup train and taken to the Folkestone terminal in Kent.
THEY WAITED IN FEAR FOR HOURS
Later, with the statement made by the Eurotunnel spokesperson, it was said that the services are now back to normal. Le Shuttle, on the other hand, said that the incident started with the sound of the train’s alarms on Tuesday night and that this should be investigated.

In a statement from the company, “The shuttle was stopped and controlled in a controlled manner. As a precaution, we transferred the passengers from the service tunnel to another service vehicle (which is there precisely for this purpose) for their safety and comfort.
PASSENGERS LIVED THE NIGHTMARE
Sarah Fellows, 37, from Birmingham, told the PA news agency she found the service tunnel ‘terrible’ and described her experiences:
“It was like a disaster movie. You were walking towards the abyss without knowing what was happening. We all had to stay under the sea in this big queue.”

Another passenger, who did not want to be named, said: “Many people were afraid to be in the service tunnel, it’s a bit of a strange place… We were stuck there for at least five hours.”
A passenger contacted the BBC before 5:45 pm to say they were on the stopped train. The passenger complained of poor communication due to the public address system not working properly.
THEY ANNOUNCED WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM FROM SOCIAL MEDIA
Four additional trains were deployed overnight from Calais to Folkestone to deal with the backlog from the incident.
However, customers traveling from Calais were advised not to go to the terminal on a Tuesday night.
