Russia’s veto right should be taken away

Zelensky: Veto right should be taken from Russia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) held in New York, USA, via video message. Talking about the mass grave found in Izyum city of Ukraine, Zelenskiy stated that Russia should be tried in international courts and said, “Russia committed crimes against Ukraine and our people. Therefore, our state demands that Russia’s crimes be punished fairly. Russia ‘s veto right in the UN should be taken away,” he said.

Referring to the partial mobilization announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Zelenskiy stated that while the whole world wants peace, Putin does not, and said: “Ukraine wants peace, Europe wants peace, the world wants peace. Only Vladimir Putin wants war.”

According to the news of İHA; Zelenskiy, who called on Western countries to increase the sanctions against Russia, said, “The way to ensure peace in Ukraine is the sanctions applied against the aggressor.”

“88 MEETINGS WERE MADE TO AVOID WAR”

Describing Russia as a “terrorist state” and arguing that a special court should be established against crimes committed in his country, Zelenskiy stated that they made great efforts in negotiations not to fight with Russia, and said, “We were not the ones who provoked this war. 88 meetings were held to avoid war. “Instead of stopping this crime of aggression, Russia turned it into a major invasion,” he said. Zelensky received a standing ovation at the General Assembly after his address.

5 ITEMS FOR PEACE FROM ZELENSKY

Explaining 5 items for peace with Russia, Zelenskiy said, “The five items of our formula are punishment of aggression, protection of life, restoration of security and territorial integrity, guarantees of security and determination to defend ourselves. This is the formula of crime and punishment, which is already well known to Russia.”

“The only thing missing from this formula is neutrality,” Zelenskiy said.
