LBYA: EGYPT’S LEAVING FROM THE ARAB BRL MEETING IS AGAINST THE TZE

Libyan National Unity Government (UBH) Foreign Minister Necla Mengu reacted to the Egyptian delegation’s departure from the hall during the Arab League foreign ministers meeting held in Cairo, saying that “this behavior is against the law of the Arab League”.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Libya, Mengu, who presided over the 158th ordinary meeting of the Arab League held at the level of foreign ministers, evaluated Egypt’s attitude at the press conference he held.

Mengu, “The departure of the Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Ukri from the meeting of the Arab League under my ministry at the level of foreign ministers is against the consent of the Arab League and the decisions of the International Security Council.” said.

Mengu stated that UBH is supported by international regulations in the international arena and is only a temporary government on the way to the elections.

“We respectfully welcome the departure of the Egyptian Foreign Minister from the meeting, but we do not approve of it. Because this is against the consensus of the Arab League and the decisions of the International Security Council. This does not reflect the perspective of some friends. We hope that the dialogue will start.”

– WHAT HAPPENED?

Some Libyan sources emphasized that Egypt should prevent the Libyan National Unity Government Foreign Minister Necla Mengu from serving as the minister for the 158th regular meeting of Arab League foreign ministers.

The same sources reported that the Egyptian representative of the Arab League spoke with the representatives of other countries “for the Foreign Minister of the Fethi Baa government, Hafz Kaddur, who was appointed as the Prime Minister by the House of Representatives (TM) in Tobruk, Libya, to preside over the session”.

In addition, the Baa government had sent a letter to the Arab League stating that “It would not be appropriate for Mengu to preside over the session in the General Assembly representing Libya and that he was the legitimate government of Libya”.
