The comparison made by the AKP’s IMM City Council Member Fatih Aydogan, who dragged Turkey into an economic disaster, on his Twitter account in April, became the agenda again on Twitter. Aydoğan claimed that Turkey’s welfare level is close to Germany’s, based on the purchasing parities announced by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
ENGINEER’S SALARY 1000 DOLLARS IN TURKEY?
“Germany appears to be 4.7 times larger than Turkey in per capita income, and France 4.2 times larger. However, in terms of purchasing power, Germany is 1.3 times larger and France is almost equal.” Says Aydoğan, comparing 2 engineers living in Germany and Turkey, a German engineer’s $5000; He claimed that the Turkish engineer received a salary of $1000 and that the German engineer was 1.4 times richer, not 5 times.
While the salaries of engineers in Turkey ranged from 8 thousand 773 TL to 11 thousand 349 TL on average, according to the current exchange rate, where 1 dollar corresponds to 19 liras, the question of who got the difference was a matter of curiosity.
