Georgia statement from TBF: ‘We will seek our rights in CAS’

Turkish Basketball Federation made a statement about the events in the Georgia match. TBF announced that an application will be made to CAS for the rejection of the objection made for the duration of the Georgia match.

The description of TBF is as follows:

“In the FIBA 2022 European Championship Group A, our Men’s National Team faced Georgia, one of the hosts of the organization, on Sunday, September 4, 2022. Even though the game was stopped after the foul committed by Duda Sanadze from Georgia on our national player Furkan Korkmaz with 4 minutes and 48 seconds before the end of the match, the match clock continued at 4 minutes and 26 seconds. As the Turkish Basketball Federation, we do not accept this decision of FIBA, which rejected the objection because it could not determine that there was a time error in the 4th quarter of the Turkey-Georgia match, but this loss of time would definitely change the outcome. We reserve all our rights related to the International Sports Arbitration We will call the court at CAS. We also trust the athletes in our National Team and our technical team, and we think that if FIBA, which has a say in the management of basketball in Europe, does not create a fair management climate, European basketball will deteriorate from its current point.”
