Automotive sales in Europe saw a movement and an increase in September. As a matter of fact, while sales in Germany increased by 15 percent last month, this rate was 5 percent in Italy. Of course, this was one of the reasons that had a positive impact on Turkey’s export figures, and September figures broke records.

According to the data of Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB), the exports of the automotive industry in September increased by 12 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 2 billion 753 million dollars. Increasing its share in total exports to 13.9 percent, the automotive industry maintained its second place in Turkey’s exports. In the January-September period of this year, the exports of the automotive industry increased by 5 percent to $22.3 billion, while the average monthly export in the first 9 months was $2.5 billion.

OIB Chairman of the Board of Directors Baran Çelik, noting that the 2.75 billion dollar export of the sector last month is the highest September export to date, said, “There was a high increase in exports to Germany, France and Poland last month. Exports of the supply industry and passenger cars increased by double digits, while tractor exports increased by triple digits.

Sub-industry on the rise

In the export figures of last month, the supply industry, that is, the sub-industry exports, were the items that attracted attention with an increase of 13 percent and the export of TIR tractors with an increase of 249 percent. The sub-industry exports, which increased by 13 percent in September to 1 billion 182 million dollars, ranked first among the product groups to which the most exports were made.

Passenger Car exports increased by 26 percent to 807 million dollars, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 25 percent to 425 million dollars.

In the supply industry, exports to Germany increased by 17 percent, while exports to Russia increased by 23 percent, to France by 49 percent, to Poland by 21 percent, and to Romania by 46 percent.

Korean Kia introduced its new electric vehicles “EV6” and “Niro” and a hybrid version of Niro. While the new EV6 went on sale for 2 million 100 thousand TL, the hybrid version of Niro was offered for 1 million 190 TL, and the hybrid version was offered at a price of around 1 million 450 thousand.

Niro Hybrid has a total power of 141 PS with a 1.6 liter gasoline engine and 32 kWh electric motor. The power of the Niro EV is 204 PS and it can reach a driving range of 460 km on a single charge. Niro, which also offers DC charging, can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 65 minutes at 50 kW DC charging stations and 45 minutes at 100 kW DC stations.

The Kia EV6, which won the “2022 Car of the Year” award in Europe, was launched in Turkey in June with the GT-Line 4×4 version. Kia EV6 can reach a driving range of up to 506 kilometers on a single charge. In addition, thanks to the advanced 800V charging technology used in Europe, it allows the vehicle to be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. In the last months of 2022, the GT version of the EV6 with 585 PS will be available.

Toyota continues to break sales records in Turkey with its ‘Toyota Professional’ product range. The Toyota light commercial vehicle product range, consisting of Hilux pick-up, Proace City and Proace City Cargo models, sold 838 vehicles in total in Turkey in September. With these sales figures, Toyota realized the highest light commercial vehicle sales of all time in Turkey with 7 thousand 127 units in the first 9 months and achieved a 6.6% increase in sales compared to last year.
