drifting to the radical extreme

This was the sentence of the singer Gülşen’s apology:

“I was thrown at the radical end that I was criticizing.”

I really liked it.

A word that fully describes his situation for the extremely disturbing statements he made for the Imam Hatip followers.

I think the court did not accept this self-critical apology.

He was arrested.

However, what he did was not such a serious crime as to be sent to prison.

He should have been tried without detention.

I leave it to the experts whether this arrest is correct from a legal point of view.

My concern is the promise of being driven to radical extremes.

EVERYONE IS FLASHING TO RADICAL EXTENSIONS

There are so many examples of being driven to radical extremes in politics, media and society that singer Gülşen is just one of them.

Especially do not be thrown to the political extremes… It has reached unbelievable proportions.

Actually, we live the radical end in two ways.

Either those who defend the political view to which they belong to death or those who criticize the political view they oppose to death.

In a bipolar political atmosphere, those who try to stay reasonable have almost no right to live.

There are also those who are declared persona non grata, excluded, labeled as traitors and ungrateful when they criticize the political party they belong to… This is another radical departure.

I can give hundreds of examples of this in both ruling and opposition parties.

UNBALANCED IN CRITICISM

It seems that Gülşen has a problem with the Imam Hatip people. She is angry with those who graduated from there and got into bad jobs.

However, he forgot the individuality of the crime and brought an undeserved accusation to the entire community.

That’s what it’s like to be thrown to the edge in criticism.

In politics, we see more examples of this.

Aren’t the generalizations that show all CHP supporters against religion, fanatically secularists and single-minded people, not thrown to a similar end?

Generalizing all religious people as pedophiles, child molesters in Qur’an courses, corrupt people, and people who are involved in dark deeds like FETÖ is another example.

We often come across it in television discussions. There are commentators who say that everything the government does is bad, finds every move of the opposition wrong and does not say anything good for the other political party.

Oddly enough, the audience is also in this mode.

He wants to always applaud the party he favors and always vilify his opponent.

However, when you are not balanced in criticism, you cease to be convincing.

ANGRY AND HATE BLASTS

What drives people to extremes?

Many reasons can be explained, but there are two main reasons:

Anger and hatred.

These two emotions take people from the reasonable level and throw them to extremes.

You may not like or criticize the members of Imam Hatip, but when you hate, you can make a mistake like Gülşen.

You can criticize a person like Gülşen who puts a big community under suspicion, but when you get angry, you throw him in prison.

When you look at an event with hatred and anger, only such a picture emerges.

WHY ARE YOU SO CLEAN?

In politics and in the media, the situation is not much different.

One of the most frequently asked questions to me has been:

How can you be so calm? The person in front of you is shouting and calling, but how can you stay so angry?

The reason is this:

I don’t hate the opposing political party, people, nor am I full of anger towards them. However, I can feel anger and hatred towards very big events. However, politics is not like that.

I say my ideas calmly, those who are convinced will be, I am not angry with those who are not.

It is also asked: Why don’t you respond to the one who insults you in the same way?

Because when I respond to what people who lack decency and adaptability say as he does, I resemble him. This would be the worst situation I could fall into.

Therefore, I take care not to act with anger and hatred.

Because anger and hatred are among the greatest weaknesses of human beings, and they push us to extremes by not being reasonable people.

Going to extremes is the biggest drift that disrupts social peace.
