Disney+ gained 14.4 million new subscribers in the last quarter. Thus, Walt Disney, which also includes Hulu and ESPN +, surpassed Netflix for the first time by reaching 221 million subscribers worldwide.

The success of Disney+ was about 45 percent above Wall Street estimates.

Netflix has a total of 220.7 million subscribers. The company announced last month that it lost another 1 million subscribers.

On the other hand, Disney+ announced that it will launch a subscription type with ads as of December.
