Controlled consumption in electricity, low bill

When using electrical appliances, making fine calculations and changing habits, albeit a little, brings significant reductions in bills. So how much? We have calculated for you, one by one, how many advantages all the devices in the house can provide with the current tariffs under which usage conditions. Here is the X-ray of the energy in the house…

THE ENERGY CRISIS IS GROWING

The world’s most developed countries are in the grip of an energy crisis. Due to rising energy prices, factories stop production and close their shutters. Consumption-restrictive measures have also been put into effect in residences, and are being taken. There is no such crisis in Turkey. However, increasing energy costs in the international market inevitably reflect on us. Therefore, we are going through a period where we need to use electricity, natural gas, in short, all resources more economically. Although it may seem difficult to us due to our old habits, some small and patient moves make a significant difference in bills.

BIG DIFFERENCE WITH LITTLE MOVE

For example; Running a half-full washing machine at full performance increases energy wastage. Instead, with a washing done at full capacity, savings of up to 50 percent can be achieved as the annual number of washings will also decrease. We talked to Çağada Kırmızı, the founder of the electricity market comparison site Encazip.com, about simple measures that can be taken regarding other devices. In addition, we aimed to calculate the consumption amount of electrical household appliances and their TL value with the October tariffs, and to see the benefit that can be obtained through economical use, comparatively.

USE AS YOU NEED

The simplest way to reduce the consumption of a device is to reduce the operating time and frequency of use of the device. Here are some plausible practical suggestions for this:

  • You can save money by boiling only as much water as you need in devices such as energy monster kettles and tea makers.
  • Using energy-efficient white goods means saving up to 50 percent on your electricity bill.
  • You can buy a ‘wattmeter socket’ to measure how much electricity the appliances in the house consume in what period of time.
  • You can save money by running laundry and dishes that are not heavily soiled in the short program or in the economy mode when the machine is fully loaded.
  • Drying clothes by using a clothes hanger in a room with daylight or by airing saves electricity, instead of drying machines that work for a long time and waste both energy and time.
  • You can gain 70-80 percent advantage by choosing energy saving bulbs for lighting.
  • By not opening the oven door frequently, you can prevent heat loss, that is, waste of energy.
  • By keeping your home between 19-21 degrees in winter and 23-25 degrees in summer, you will have more efficient air conditioning.
  • Power tools continue to consume electricity when plugged in, even if they are turned off. Do not forget to remove the plug from the socket. You will save at least 2 percent.
  • Have the sockets and other electrical installation systems in the house checked for leaks. Electricity leakage increases the bill.
