16-year-old Nika, who was called ‘suicide’, was killed in Iran

The reactionary regime in Iran continues to attack young people and women who are against the religious and oppressive government. After the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in the custody of the morality police, it was revealed that the regime’s security forces also killed a young woman, 16-year-old Nika Shakarami, in the protests that started in the country.

The mother of Nika Shakarami, who disappeared on September 20 during protests against her government in the capital Tehran and allegedly committed suicide on September 29 by Iranian authorities, said that her daughter was beaten to death by law enforcement officers. Mother Nesrin Shakarami explained that the authorities informed her of their daughter’s death 10 days later and that Nika’s body was taken out of the morgue and buried in a village without the family knowing. Her mother added that according to Nika’s death records, her skull was severely damaged, with the marks of multiple blows to her head. In the international press, it was written that Nika’s family was threatened by the regime forces to change their statements.

19 OF THE DEATH ARE CHILDREN

On the other hand, Norway-based non-governmental organization Iran Human Rights, which shares data on the protesters killed in demonstrations in Iran, announced that 185 people, 19 of whom were children, lost their lives in the demonstrations. The organization also noted that the highest number of casualties were in Sistan and Balochistan.

DETENTIONS WILL NOT BE RELEASED

According to the semi-official news agency Tesnim, Deputy Minister of Interior Mecit Mirahmedi said, “From today, those detained at the scene of the uprising will not be released in any way until they are tried.” Stating that the trials will be concluded quickly, Mirahmedi also said that harsh and deterrent punishments will be given.
