De Sousa, who fell into depression after the terrible event he experienced, lost control of his eating habits.
De Sousa attempted suicide by eating.
“After the rape, I turned to food for emotional support”
De Sousa stated that she turned to food for emotional support. “After the rape, I turned to food for emotional support because I was also raped, homeless, and my children were taken from me.” said.
“I always thought I was raped because of my looks and it was my fault”
De Sousa continued:
“I turned to food for support because I could mask it as a form of suicide. The more I ate, the fatter I would get, the more I could recognize the woman looking at me in the mirror. I was happy with that because I always thought I was raped for looks, I thought it was my fault.
“I am a better person today”
I no longer let trauma and fear control my every move, I struggle from my past. I see success from my trauma experience. I’m a better person today.”

De Sousa, who decided to change her life after what she experienced, decided to have a stomach tube inserted.
De Sousa, who recently started to weaken, said that he plans to get rid of the trauma and return to his old life.
