Silver Steele, a porn actress living in the United States, took pictures of the changes in her body every day for 22 days after she contracted monkeypox and shared it on her social media account.
Actor Steele said he wanted to share the course of the disease day by day to raise awareness about monkeypox.
Telling the Insider newspaper about her experiences, Steele said she initially thought the pimple-like bumps on the side of her mouth were “razor burns” when she started showing symptoms in July.
Steele, who thought that he was infected with monkeypox when the lesions started to grow and turn yellowish after a short time, stated that he did not feel any pain during this process.
Stating that he did not feel well 4 days after the symptoms appeared, he felt pain when swallowing and had difficulty in moving, Steele said that his doctor confirmed that this was the symptoms of monkeypox. He told that he had complaints such as body pain, high fever and night sweats.
It was stated that Steele, who experienced flu-like symptoms for 48 hours, later suffered from wounds on his face.
Steele said that he had difficulty in eating, as the sores that appeared around the mouth spread to his throat, gums and inside his mouth.
Stating that his sore throat was also severe at the peak of the disease, Steele saw swellings in other parts of his body, such as his legs, as the disease progressed.
Steele, who recently came out of quarantine, said that although he survived the disease, he was vaccinated.
Sharing photos showing the development of the disease on her social media account day by day, the actress states that she wants to raise awareness about vaccination, especially in the gay community.
