MAP OF THE DISASTER

The Russian Ministry of Defense has published maps showing which countries will be affected in the event of a leak in Zaporozhye. According to General Igor Kirilov, the Ministry’s Commander for Nuclear Threats, even a 25 percent leak of just one reactor could have the equivalent of Chernobyl and Fukushima. Kirilov stated that if there is an external intervention such as an armed attack on the power plant, the backup generator and cooling systems of the reactors, as well as the main security systems, may be disabled, and in this case, the reactor will melt. Kirilov said, “(in case of leakage) all of Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Moldova and Belarus, mostly Germany and as far as the Scandinavian countries, poisoning will be observed. “Hundreds of thousands of people will have to migrate,” he said.
