The huge Russian project worth 21.3 billion dollars came to a standstill! They asked for help from Turkey

It has been claimed that Russia is facing serious problems due to the Ukraine war and Western sanctions on the shores of the Obi Gulf.

The Greek press wrote that Russia has become dependent on Turkey for its LNG program in the Arctic.

HELP FROM TURKEY TO A GIANT INVESTMENT OF 21.3 BILLION DOLLARS

It has been stated that Russia’s largest independent natural gas company, Novatek, is dependent on western technology in the Arctic LNG 2 project to be built in the Siberia region with an investment of 21.3 billion dollars, and the natural gas project is under threat due to sanctions.

Greek media wrote that Novatek could not complete the project as planned after the withdrawal of Baker Hughes, Saipem and Technip, and stated that help could come from Turkey to the Russian giant.

NOVATEK HAS NO OPTION OTHER THAN TO MAKE A DEAL WITH THE TURKISH COMPANY

It was stated that Novatek met with the Turkish company Karpowership, which has the world’s largest fleet of floating power plants. It was emphasized that Novatek had no choice but to make an agreement with the Turkish company.

The following statements were included in the analysis article;

It is believed that the power ship could replace turbines to be delivered by Baker Hughes. The American company was to build 20 LM9000 turbines on Arctic LNG 2. Only four of the turbines were delivered and Baker Hughes withdrew from Russia before sanctions were imposed. The last of these was sent to Belokamenka outside Murmansk on 25 May.

Since 2010, Karpowership has built 25 powerships that supply energy to countries with underdeveloped energy systems today. Ships of this type currently operate in 10 African countries, as well as in the Middle East and Latin America. Electric ships are floating power plants mounted on barges or ships and can run on heavy fuel oil, diesel fuel or natural gas.

Key components are designed by the French company Technip. Another important partner was Saren BV, a joint venture between Italian engineering company Saipem and Turkish company Renaissance Heavy Industries. As Kommersant reports, Technip and Saipem have now withdrawn from Arctic LNG 2 and Novatek has replaced them with Nova Energies and Green Energy Solutions. The first company is said to be a subsidiary of the Russian Nipigaz, while the second is a brand new company registered in the United Arab Emirates.

In addition, Chinese shipyards that produce important parts have also decided to stop working with Novatek.

The consequences for Novatek’s massive builds could be dramatic. If the massive Arctic LNG 2 project comes to a complete halt, the Belokamenka field could eventually turn into a ghost town.
