Shock claim for Instagram: Does not treat its employees equally

When Instagram head Adam Mosseri moved to London, the agenda of the social media company suddenly became “moving”. Due to the move, allegedly due to Mosseri’s ‘global nature’, it was stated that London is the company’s largest engineering center outside of the USA. There was talk of the existence of a separate Instagram team there.

Allegedly, Mosseri wanted to recruit more staff to its London offices. Any staff hired in London is likely to be paid less than their San Francisco counterparts.

The reason for this wage disparity was cited as a higher cost of living paired with an exaggerated demand for technologists in the US. Looking at the commodity in general, it turns out that San Francisco-based workers make more money.

Meta’s average product manager in London earns a salary of $146,605. According to the same data, product designers at the company also earn an average salary of $115,150 per year. Three product managers who started in San Francisco last year were paid between $180,000 and $210. According to workforce data, a product designer starting in 2022 earned a base salary of $185,792.
