The US Central Command (CENTCOM) Command has confirmed that it is considering the establishment of a center in Saudi Arabia to test innovative military technologies.

CENTCOM Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel David Eastburn told Anadolu Agency, “The ‘Red Sands (Rand Sands) Trial Center’, which is still under development as a concept, is an innovative approach to training and combat readiness between the US and Middle East partners.” used the phrase

Eastburn stated that the vision of this test center is “to test a wide range of different capabilities for the joint interoperability of the United States and its partners in the region and to counter different drone systems.”

Noting that this concept is a part of CENTCOM’s search for innovative ways to continue its existing strategic partnerships in the region, Eastburn stated that this center and similar future ideas are an example of US cooperation with its partners in the region.

A military official speaking to the AA correspondent on the subject said that the idea for this trial center is at a very early stage and that specific details about the center have not been found yet.

Noting that the issue of defense against unmanned aerial systems is the common interest of many countries in the region, the official stated that this center will create a cooperation area in the region on this issue.
