Bupar Research took the pulse of the citizens regarding the CHP’s law proposal on the headscarf issue. The research was carried out by interviewing 1500 people face-to-face between 4-9 October.

“THE VOTES WILL INCREASE”

The question “Why do you think the CHP proposed a law on the headscarf?” was also asked in the survey. 39.8 percent of the participants said “To prevent the headscarf issue from being a political argument in the hands of the AKP”, 35.5 percent said “It is not prohibited anyway. In order to have a legal basis for what happens in daily life”, 13.9 percent answered “To get votes from conservative voters”. The participants were asked, “Will the CHP’s law proposal regarding the headscarf increase their votes?” 54.6 percent of the participants answered “Yes”, 43.6 percent “No”, and 1.8 percent “I have no idea”.

The survey also included the question “Which alliance candidate will win the presidency in 2023”. 36.7 percent of the participants answered as “People’s Alliance”, 60.4 percent as “Nation Alliance” and 2.9 percent as “Let the good one win”. Participants were also asked, “Who would you vote for if there were only two candidates in the 2023 presidential election, one being Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the other someone you liked?” The rate of those who say “I will vote for Erdoğan under any circumstances” is 33.7 percent, the rate of those who say “I will vote for the candidate who is Erdoğan’s opponent” is 46.5 percent, “It depends on who the candidate will be. The rate of those who said “It depends on what you promise” was 19.8 percent.

Finally, the participants were asked “Do you feel happy?” 9.5 percent of the respondents answered “Yes” to this question, 22.8 percent answered “Sometimes” and 67.7 percent answered “No”.

“CHP AND KILIÇDAROĞLU BROKEN THE MESH”

BUPAR Research Company President Erdal Akaltun evaluated the results of the survey. Stating that the results of the survey show that three quarters of the society care about CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s statement about the headscarf, Akaltun said, “This statement, which is a game changer for CHP and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, is likely to have a domino effect in the political conjuncture. Approximately 90 percent of the society found this proposal correct. CHP is seen as the winner of today because it communicates with a sociological field that it cannot communicate.
