Reaction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Macron’s statement on Turkey

WALL – Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tanju Bilgiç, said during the French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Algeria, “In Turkey, Russia and China, there are networks with activism, neo-colonial and imperialist agendas and hostile to France under hand. There is only one enemy, France. It all unites in this,” he reacted.

Describing Macron’s statements as “unfortunate”, Bilgiç said, “It is unacceptable that French President Macron, who has difficulty in confronting his colonial past in Africa, especially Algeria, tries to get rid of his colonial past by accusing other countries, including our country.”

Bilgiç said, “Turkey, which encourages friendship, not hostility, and is among the strategic partners of the African Union, develops its relations with both Algeria and other countries of the African continent day by day. progressing,” he said.

Bilgic continued:

“If France thinks that there are reactions against it on the African continent, it should look for the source of these reactions in its colonial past and its efforts to continue them with different methods and try to correct it. To claim that these reactions are caused by the activities of third countries, instead of confronting and solving the problems related to their own past, is not only to deny a sociological phenomenon and history, but also reflects the distorted mentality of some politicians.

We hope that France will reach the maturity to face its colonial past without blaming other countries, including our country, as soon as possible.” (NEWS CENTER)
