WHAT HAPPENED?

On October 25, last year, Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk and other civilian government officials, including at least 4 ministers, were detained in Sudan. The President of the Sovereignty Council and the commander of the army, Abdülfettah al-Burhan, later declared a state of emergency and announced that he had abolished the civil administration. After the coup, the people revolted and demonstrations broke out. On November 21, al-Burhan and Hamduk reached an agreement and it was decided that Hamduk would take office as prime minister again, and Hamduk announced his resignation on January 3, about 2 months after he took office. The state of emergency in the country, which has been going on for 7 months, was lifted on May 29.
