Profits of 445 companies increased by 234%

Companies traded on the stock exchange announced their first half-year balance sheets. Profits in industry increased by 145 percent and in banks by 418 percent. In the first six months of the year, the profits of 445 listed companies amounted to TL 339 billion.

While the sales of industrial companies increased from TL 348 billion to TL 886 billion, their profits rose from TL 36 billion to TL 88 billion. In the industry, sales increased by 154 percent and profits increased by 145 percent.

In the industry, the shares of the chemical sector came to the fore with their strong sales and profitability. While the sales of the companies in the sector increased by 227 percent, their profits increased by 327 percent.

The profit of the companies included in the BIST Chemical, Petroleum and Plastics Index, which was 6.7 billion TL in the first six months of last year, increased to 29 billion TL in the first half of this year. In the same period, the sales of the companies in the sector increased from 98 billion TL to 322 billion TL.

Top three in industry

Ereğli Demir Çelik, Tüpraş and Ford Otosan announced the highest profits in the first six months of 2022 in the industry. Ereğli announced a profit of 12.2 billion TL, while Tüpraş announced a net profit of 11.6 billion TL and Ford Otosan 6.5 billion TL.

The ranking of the 10 companies that announced the highest profits in the industry is as follows: Ereğli Demir Çelik, Tüpraş, Ford Otosan, İskenderun Demir Çelik, Sasa Polyester, Petkim, Tofaş Automotive Factory, Coca Cola İçecek, Koza Altın, Kardemir (D). There are 3 metal main sector shares in the top 10. Two oil sectors and two automotive companies draw attention. One company each from the beverage, mining and textile chemicals sectors is on the list.

‘Service’ made fewer sales

In the first half of the year, the service sector achieved sales revenue of 483 billion TL. Its sales, which were 221 billion TL in the six-month period of 2021, increased by 118 percent. The profitability of the sector increased from TL 12.5 billion to TL 28.9 billion. Turkish Airlines alone accounted for 23.6% of the total sales in the service sector, with Bimas providing 12% and Enerjisa 7.4%.

418 percent profit increase from 10 banks

Banks increased their profits by 418 percent in the six-month period of 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year. The profit of 10 banks, which was 19.8 billion TL in the six-month period of 2021, rose to 102 billion TL in the first six-month period of 2022. The fastest profit growth was realized in Albaraka Türk, T. Halk Bankası and Şekerbank. İşbank, Akbank and Garanti Bank were among the top three rankings that announced the highest profits. While İşbank announced a profit of 22.9 billion TL in the six-month period of 2022, Akbank announced a profit of 21.1 billion TL and Garanti Bank announced a profit of 21 billion TL. The lowest profit increase in the banking sector was TSKB with 217 percent.
