Passage record in the Eurasia Tunnel, in which Qatar is a partner

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is the South Korean SK HoldCo Pte. Ltd. and became a partner in the Eurasia Tunnel.

Eurasia Tunnel Operation Construction and Investment A.Ş. (ATAS) is responsible. Before the said takeover, Yapı Merkezi and the South Korean firm SK were two equal partners of ATAŞ. It is not known how much the Qatar Investment Fund is a partner in the project.

Nearly 91 million vehicles crossed in total

On the other hand, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu gave information about the number of vehicles using the Eurasia Tunnel. Karaismailoğlu stated that 455 thousand 746 vehicles passed through the Eurasia Tunnel during the period of 5-11 September and said, “The daily pass record was broken with 67 thousand 982 vehicles on 8 September.”

Noting that the Eurasia Tunnel started to serve motorcycle drivers as of May 1, Karaismailoğlu said: “A total of 122 thousand 441 motorcycle riders used the tunnel. A total of 90 million 804 thousand vehicles have passed through the Eurasia Tunnel since 2016. Our investments continue unabated in every mode of transportation. While we ease the traffic in Istanbul with our investments, we provide fast, safe and comfortable transportation for our citizens. We spend our time, our energy, our minds and our ideas only on our nation.”
