The labor shortage in the island country of New Zealand led the government to seek new ways.

Immigration Minister Michael Wood said that by making some changes in immigration laws, they aim to recruit 12,000 temporary workers to work in the sectors most affected by the global labor shortage.

In addition, it was noted that remuneration rules will be relaxed in business areas such as elderly care, construction, infrastructure, meat and seafood business, tourism and service sector, where immigrants work the most.

Pointing out that the labor shortage is seen in many places at different sectors and levels, Minister Wood stated that visa periods for some workers will be extended up to 6 months.

New Zealand, which has a population of approximately 5 million, needs 50 thousand labor force from abroad every year.
