The eyes and ears of the world have been on the news from Ukraine for months. As the war in the country continues to die, a flash nuclear weapons announcement came from Moscow. Russia announced the ‘nuclear weapons requirement’.
The war, which started with the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has recently intensified in the eastern regions of Ukraine.
While the resistance of the Ukrainian forces in the region continued, a remarkable statement came from Russia.
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu spoke about the use of nuclear weapons, which is known as the ‘nightmare scenario’.
When asked under what conditions Russia would use this weapon, Shoigu explained Moscow’s only criterion.
The Russian minister stated that Moscow will use its nuclear weapons only for self-defense.
According to the news in the British Daily Mail, Shoigu, evaluating the possibility of using nuclear weapons in Ukraine, used the following statements;
‘There is no need to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine to achieve military goals. Because the quest can be won without using them.’

‘NUCLEAR’ TESTIMONY TO NATO
Speaking at a non-proliferation conference recently, Russian diplomat Alexander Trofimov said that Moscow may decide to use its nuclear arsenal in response to the “direct aggression” of NATO countries against the occupation.
Trofimov had stated that Moscow would only use nuclear weapons in response to weapons of mass destruction or conventional weapons attacks that threaten the existence of the Russian state.
“Neither of these two hypothetical scenarios is relevant to the situation in Ukraine,” the Russian diplomat said.
NUCLEAR ORDER FROM PUTIN
In the first weeks of the war, Putin had ordered the “Russian Nuclear Deterrent Forces” to go on “high alert”.
It was announced that the said step was taken after NATO’s “aggressive statements” and it was announced that the unit went into a “special war mission” after Putin’s order.
