Installment and SCT call on white goods

While domestic sales of white goods contracted by 2 percent in six main product groups in July, exports decreased by 7 percent.

According to the statement made by the Turkish White Goods Manufacturers Association (TÜRKBESD); Domestic sales of white goods decreased by 2 percent to 615,625 units in six main product groups, including refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, freezers and dryers. Exports, on the other hand, decreased by 7 percent to 1.6 million units.

Stating that the total sales in the sector, including domestic sales and exports, decreased by 2% as of the first seven months of the year, TÜRKBESD President Can Dinçer said, “We are making an effort to get out of the current conjuncture unscathed. “We believe it is critical to take some measures,” he said.

Dinçer listed the demands of the sector as follows:

“Considering that the decrease in domestic sales may affect production, it will be beneficial to increase the number of credit card installments and abolish the SCT. It is also important to reevaluate the protective measures that create a cost burden for our industry, which is the locomotive.”

Dinçer pointed out that global developments negatively affected the export part of the sector; The rise in global inflation, the supply problems due to the Russia-Ukraine war, the increase in energy and raw material prices, and the worsening economic problems, especially in Europe, the main export market.

According to TÜRKBBESD data, in the January-July period, domestic sales decreased by 7 percent to 4.87 million units, while exports remained flat to 14.49 million units.
