I’m sorry I didn’t grow up in Muslim culture

WALL – Model Bella Hadid said she felt cut off from her Palestinian roots as she grew up in California following her parents’ divorce. Saying that she was upset that she wasn’t allowed to grow up in “Muslim culture”, Hadid said, “I missed this part of me for a long time and it made me really sad and lonely. Hadid said, “I realized that I was not born into this world to be a model. I am lucky to be in this position and to be able to speak. Well, what’s wrong with that? I don’t lose my job.”

“Many companies have stopped working with me. Some of my friends have stopped seeing me altogether. Even friends that I’ve had dinner with at their house on Friday nights for seven years. Now they don’t even let me into their homes,” Hadid said.
