According to the news in the British Daily Mail newspaper, Laishev survived the explosion, but died days later in the hospital.
Working for Ukraine’s internal security service (SBU), Laishev switched sides in 2014 to the Moscow-backed Luhansk People’s Republic as head of intelligence.

Valeriy Zaluzhny, the Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine, announced the number of soldiers who died in the war to the world in a statement he made recently.
Zaluzhny announced that approximately 9,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the invasion of Russia.
Ukraine had previously announced that military casualties would remain a state secret until the end of the state of emergency.
