The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, who came to Erzincan to attend the Turkish World Symposium (TRNC) President Ersin Tatarvisited Governor Mehmet Makas in his office.
Welcomed by the ceremonial squad at the entrance of the governor’s office, Tatar signed the visit book afterwards. Tatar met with Governor Mehmet Makas for a while and then made statements to the press.
Evaluating the USA’s lifting of the embargo against the Greek part of Southern Cyprus and the developments in the region, Tatar said, “The President of Turkey, Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar gave the necessary answer in this regard. It is always said, ‘we are one, we are the same, we are the children of the same nation. The cooperation of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is very important in this region. As you know, after 1974, the corps of the Turkish Armed Forces continues to exist as the Turkish Peace Forces Command. In the words of our President, ’40 thousand of our soldiers are there, and if necessary, many more Mehmetçik can be sent there in 5 minutes. Our own people are always mujahideen. Of course, we are prepared for all kinds of events with our strong spirit. But no one wants neither conflict nor war in this age. I don’t even want to talk about such a thing. Because with the reconciliation formula, which is in the hearts of the Turkish Cypriot people and Turkey, the protection of rights and interests and justice and conscience are doing what is right,” he said.

‘GREECE IS OPPRESSED AND ENJOYED’
Stating that what the Greeks did was touty, Tatar said in his speech:
“Especially after the Russian-Ukrainian war, the great potential of the Republic of Turkey, the attempts of the President of Turkey to open the urgent grain corridor, the crushing of Greece in a way with the steps taken by some other Turkish Republic, their jealousy, what will they do now? They’re playing some games. None of these games are believable. Because Turkey’s power and potential are clear, and it is clear what they are. First of all, the population of Cyprus is certain, its size is certain. So against whom, how much can they be armed? These are some temporary tricks, in my opinion, played against their own people and their own politics. Because both sides have choices. There are elections in both Greece and Southern Cyprus in the coming months. So there may be arguments for domestic politics. I believe all this is temporary. The important thing is to maintain our existence in this geography, as I said, the potential of the Republic of Turkey and at the same time the strengthening of Northern Cyprus, this is all my hope and wish. Therefore, it has already been stated by the most authoritative mouths of the Republic of Turkey that the Republic of Turkey is always with the Turkish Cypriot people and that we can take similar steps against their actions.’
