Elon Musk commissioned Starlink satellite internet in Iran

In Iran, where protests continue, a new step came from Musk after the US step to facilitate Iranians’ access to the internet.

Responding to the Twitter post of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the subject, Musk said, “We are putting Starlink into action.”

In the statement made by the Ministry of the Treasury, it was reported that the general license in question was issued with the aim of increasing support for internet freedom in Iran.

Pointing out that the government restricted internet access after the demonstrations that started after Mahsa Emini died in Iran after she was detained on the grounds that she “did not comply with the headscarf rules”, it was noted that the US took action to “support the free flow of information and access to fact-based information” for the Iranian people.

WHAT IS STARLINK?

Starlink is a space-based system SpaceX has been working on for years to facilitate internet access in underserved parts of the world.

SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, plans to establish a network of 12 thousand satellites in earth orbit with Starlink satellites. The project is targeted to be completed in 2027.
