Economic clamp for Nesin Foundation

The pressures against the Nesin Foundation, founded by the author Aziz Nesin, continue. The bank accounts of the Nesin Foundation, whose 60-decare olive grove in the Tire district of Izmir was set fire to last week and targeted by the İsmailağa Community in Istanbul Çatalca, was blocked last April. Foundation managers have not been able to access the money in their bank accounts for about 4 months.

According to the news of İsmail Arı from BirGün, With the decision of Çatalca District Governor’s Office dated April 12, Nesin Foundation’s accounts in Türkiye İş Bankası, Yapı Kredi Bankası, Vakıfbank and Ziraat Bank were blocked on the grounds of alleged unauthorized aid collection and on the grounds that Article 7 of the Aid Collection Law No. 2860 was violated.

OBJECTIONS REJECTED

In addition, it was decided to transfer the ownership of the 7 thousand 955 square meters field in Çatalca Gökçeali Mahallesi, which is also owned by the foundation, with 1 million 970 thousand TL in the bank accounts. Nesin Foundation, on the other hand, filed a lawsuit with the Istanbul 3rd Administrative Court requesting a stay of execution for the annulment of these decisions. However, the request for a stay of execution in the lawsuit filed with the request for “cancellation of the transaction and stay of execution” was rejected. Thereupon, the Nesin Foundation appealed to the Regional Administrative Court for the rejection of the request for a stay of execution. However, this court also rejected Nesin Foundation’s objection to stay of execution on 9 August. The Local Court has not yet given its final decision on the merits. Nesin Foundation’s lawyer, Cenk Söbe, also told BirGün, emphasizing that the court has not yet made its final decision, “We requested a stay of execution for the blocks placed on bank accounts, and this request was denied. If a stay of execution decision had been made, the blocks in our bank accounts would have been lifted. We await the final decision of the court. First, members of the İsmailağa Community in Çatalca physically attacked our foundation and caused discomfort. After that, our bank accounts were blocked. Finally, 40 decares of 60 decares of land in İzmir was burned. We are faced with a process where criminals are protected. All this does not come as a coincidence. None of these can scare or deter the Nesin Foundation” said.

INSPECTED MANY TIMES

Aziz Nesin’s son, the founder and executive of the Mathematics Village, and one of the donors of the Nesin Foundation, Prof. Dr. In the letter Ali Nesin sent to the Istanbul 3rd Administrative Court, the following statements were included:

“Nesin Foundation has been inspected many times by the General Directorate of Foundations. As stated by the inspectors, the donations were only used in favor of the Foundation and for the education of children, and no irregularities were found. Around 40 children are fed, educated and educated within the body of the Nesin Foundation. It has just as many employees. The families of so many children and young people are provided with financial and moral support from afar. We also have animals from which our children benefit from their meat, milk and eggs. We have fields and orchards. To confiscate the bank accounts of such a foundation is not only inconsistent, but also contrary to the principle of ‘children’s interests first’. ”
