Nurse Lucy Letby has appeared in court, accused of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill 10 babies in England’s Chester lent.

Arguing that healthy babies died in the Countess of Chester hospital and that Letby was among the registered employees at the time of the death of these babies, the prosecution stated that there were “significantly higher infant deaths” in the newborn baby department of the hospital compared to other institutions.

Accused of murdering five baby boys and two girls, Letby denies the allegations.

It was alleged that Letby tried to kill a baby three times and killed another baby by injecting air.

Prosecutor Nick Johnson KC said the hospital’s counselors were concerned over the accelerating rise in infant mortality in 18 months.

The police investigation revealed that two babies were killed with insulin from mid-2015 to mid-2016.

Saying that two other babies poisoned with insulin were saved thanks to the efforts of health workers, Prosecutor Johnson stated that no one had thought that someone could poison the babies in the neonatal unit.

Some babies’ families were also in court.

It may take up to six months for the case to be concluded.
