What is Andropoz, the series that everyone is eagerly waiting for – article

6-episode mini-series that arouses great curiosity even with its name andropause It aired on Netflix. Directed by İmaj Yapım, the Coen brothers of Turkey, known as Taylan Brothers Rain Taylan and Durul Taylan doing. The protagonists of the production Good Morning, Tamer Karadağli, Derya Karadas with their growing roles while sharing Turgut Tunçalp, Gülçin Santırcıoğlu, Sebnem Hassanisoughi, Yuliia Sobol, Doğa Zeynep Doğuşlu, Ergin Torun the twins are a kind of projection of the directors with Melissa & Merih Dilber they accompany.

The opening sequence of the series begins with a man covered in blood, lying face down in a sea boat in shorts with the words “happy”. Right after this scene, he dyed his hair in front of the mirror. Joseph (Engin Günaydın) is connected to the character. When his hair color is unusual, his wife Mary They come face to face with (Derya Karadaş). And this wordless scene actually says a lot about the main text of the series. Then, with a great cinematographic scene where Yusuf loses his balance and falls while riding his scooter in the side streets of Marmaris with a can of paint in his hand, a generic title comes out like the sun in every episode except the last episode of the series.

CHANGE REQUIRES Courage

Yusuf, a haberdasher in his early 50’s, lives a happy life in Marmaris with his wife and two children. However, Yusuf has a problem with the flowing and accelerating time. In the first scenes of the series, Yusuf talks about how he compares time to a fierce enemy who wants to kill him, in a somewhat monologue conversation with both the painter who paints his shop and the barber who cuts his hair. This change attracts the attention of his family, and they think that Yusuf has an incurable disease. With the involvement of his wife’s sister Fadime (Şebnem Hassanisoughi) and her husband Halit (Tamer Karadağlı) in the subject, the course of events goes from just telling an andropause process and drags the audience to an absurd but convincing place in the triangle of tension – drama – comedy.

The English title of the series is “Man on Pause”. In fact, Engin Günaydın is the most important reason why Andropoz invites the audience to a world beyond its promise. If it’s not an exaggeration, it would be useful to consider the productions that bear his signature as a “genre” with the same Tim Burton and Wes Anderson flavor. So much so that almost all of the characters created by Günaydın, both as the author and actor of the series, are rendered in 3D. This adds another sense of intimacy to the production and makes you watch even the illogical and logical scenes with a smile instead of judging them. It is obvious that there is a dangerous but unique taste in the productions that Günaydın wrote and acted in. This authenticity also underlines the fact that we watch Günaydın as a middle-class, naive, curious, talkative, somewhat obsessive character, unable to lie, as a person who, in fact, bends over the mind of the audience under different names in every production, without any effort.

ON THAT ROAD FROM BATHROOM TO WEALTH

Tamer Karadağlı, who plays the role of Yusuf’s brother-in-law Halit, is undoubtedly one of the most controversial names in the series. While some viewers find Karadağlı disliked not only in this role, but also in life, others sympathize with Halit, who is an alcoholic, exhausted, violent, weak personality. First of all, it is a brave attempt that Karadağlı accepts to play the character of Halit, which has a very different texture from the roles he has played so far. Halit even removes this acting, even though he has played a role rather than a role with his non-conforming accent. Because he undertakes one of the most interesting character journeys in the series on the way from being barzoic to becoming a zen.

In addition, the depiction of today’s youth from Günaydın’s pen is also interesting. These children, who are only focused on making friends and making money, leave their parents’ naive and devoted worlds with obvious differences.

ENGIN GÜNAYDIN SHOULD WRITE MORE

Although he set out to write a film project with Günaydın Andropoz; He decides on a series of 4 episodes, and then 6 episodes, especially since he aims to layer a story that relies on action and suspense with humor. Again, Vavien, whose screenplay was written by himself and which is considered one of the best films in Turkey, brought Günaydın the “Best Screenplay” award from both Siyad and Istanbul Film Festivals in 2010. Naturally, we seem to be getting the signals from this series that we will meet with Günaydın more often as a screenwriter in the upcoming period.

Just like the scene of Halit sleeping in a car swinging at the edge of the cliff, drinking a few more sips of whiskey instead of getting out of there…

Günaydın’s pen allows us to make fun of a mind that we are not so different from in life, and to think about it – and with pleasure – from time to time.
