US sale of F-16 to Turkey will be presented to Congress

While the next week was pointed out for the expected Congress decision to approve the sale of the F-16, it was stated that the approval status depends on Turkey, Sweden and Finland allowing NATO membership.

There was another new development regarding the sale of F-16s by the USA to Turkey.

Last year, US President Joe Biden gave the green light to the sale of F-16s between the two countries.

Biden stated that his positive opinion has not changed, but that he needs to get approval from Congress.

F-16 to Turkey, F-35 to Greece

According to the latest development, US government sources reported that the Joe Biden administration is preparing to receive Congressional approval for the sale of new F-16 fighter jets worth $20 billion to Turkey and the sale of new generation F-35 fighter jets to Greece.

Officials speaking to the newspaper said that the approval of the Congress depends on Turkey’s approval of Finland and Sweden’s membership in NATO.

A decision is expected next week.

It was stated that the request for congressional approval will coincide with the visit of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to Washington next week.
