The seal broke into the house, traumatized the cat and hung out on the couch

A seal entering a house in New Zealand frightened the cat inside, roamed the hallway while the kids slept upstairs, and “miraculously” broke nothing.

The Ross family of Mt Maunganui were shocked to find a seal in their home 150 meters from shore. Marine biologist Phil Ross said he was disappointed that he was the only person not home at the time of the incident.

“This was the only emergency where having a marine biologist at home would work. I missed my chance to shine,” Ross said.

Ross described what happened after his wife, Jenn, woke up at 6 a.m. to go to the gym: “He heard a barking sound as he was getting into the car, but then this sound went away. He thought, ‘It must be someone’s dog.’ When he got home at around 7 o’clock, he saw the cute little seal. The seal was frightened and dragged itself towards the empty room”.

Saying that the seal managed to enter the house through the cat door, Ross believes that the fish’s meeting with the family’s cat, Coco, caused this. According to the family theory, Coco entered the house using the cat door after seeing the seal and getting scared; The seal followed him.

It was stated that the seal started to sit on a sofa after entering the empty room. Jenn stated that she managed to take the seal out of the empty room and lead it to the garden in a short time. At around 10 am, officials from the Environmental Protection Department caught the seal and brought it back to the water.

On the other hand, it was stated that the family’s cat, Coco, was “traumatized” and therefore refused to go down.
