The mystery of the long cloud on Mars has been solved. NASA was shocked by the information. exactly 1700 kilometers

It was stated that the cloud discovered on Mars is a larger cloud than California. It has been stated that the cloud that stretches across the red face of Mars looks like an impressionist painter has drawn a line across the canvas.

This cloud was not what astrophysicist Jorge Hernández Bernal saw in the photo first taken by the European Space Agency’s Mars Express spacecraft in 2018. The image taken about 20 years ago was rather blurry and incomprehensible. Bernal, who later worked on Martian meteorology at Basque Country University in Spain, quickly realized that the shadow in the photograph was something quite different: A mysterious weather phenomenon was taking place on the Red Planet.

When the researchers looked at Mars with better equipment, it was revealed that the cloud on the Red Planet was floating in all its glory. The team thoroughly rummaged through the photo archive and found that the cloud was always there. So much so that he was even there in the Viking 2 mission carried out by NASA in the 1970s.

The secret was knowing when to call him.

Speaking to Mashable, Bernal “There were people who thought the European Space Agency (ESA) was lying. It was a little difficult because I was very young when the discovery was made. I was trying to talk to people on Twitter” said.

Bernal and his team published their observations in 2020 and explained that what they saw was the ‘Long Arsia Mons Cloud’, short for AMEC.

Because the cloud is 1,700 kilometers long, scientists believe it could be the tallest of its kind in our solar system. This work is followed by a second report, published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets, which shows that volcanoes may have produced the unusual singular cloud in the cloudless southern region of Mars this time of year.

The ice cloud on the western slope of Arsia Mons, an extinct volcano, has been appearing at sunrise for decades. This lava-spitting volcano, 435 kilometers wide and 18 kilometers long, is rising into the atmosphere of Mars. Mauna Loa, the largest volcano on our planet, dwarfs next to the Martian volcano.

Some spacecraft orbiting Mars, such as NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, were unable to take pictures until noon because they were synchronized with the Sun. By that time, the moving cloud had long since remained in the air for only 3 hours in the morning hours.

Scientists have long known that volcanoes on the Red Planet are extinct. Instead of, ‘orographic effect’ The physical structure of the air rising over a mountain or volcano, called

Scientists have simulated the effects of Mount Arsia Mons on the planet’s atmosphere on a high-resolution computer simulation. Strong winds whip at its skirt, creating gravitational waves. The moist air is temporarily compressed and drifts up the mountainside. These air currents blow at speeds of up to 73 kilometers per hour, causing the temperature to drop by more than 12 degrees Celsius. This allows the water to condense and freeze about 45 km above the volcano’s summit.

For 5 to 10 percent of a year on Mars, the dusty skies help hold moisture in the air, while the planet’s atmosphere is conducive to cloud formation. According to the team’s model, the air is too dry early in the year, and late in the year, the planet’s climate is too hot for water to condense.

But while the researchers’ simulation was able to create the Arsia Mons cloud under unique conditions, it failed to replicate its long tail. Scientists say this is the biggest problem. Unfortunately, this is a mystery that can only be solved with spectrometer instruments found on spaceships that identify the types of particles in matter. A close examination of the water vapor in the cloud may give researchers more clues.

Bernal finally says:

“I would like to observe this cloud, but I know where my place is. Sometimes we think of space as a utopia. I’m happy to be looking at it from my spacecraft on Earth.”
