The hospital where he was treated announced that Pele’s cancer had progressed

The hospital, where Brazilian former football player Pele was treated for cancer, announced that the 82-year-old football legend’s disease progressed.

Pele, who is shown as one of the best football players of all time according to football authorities and who has won the world cup three times, has been under treatment in the hospital for more than three weeks.

Her daughter said in a post on social media that her father will spend Christmas in the hospital.

The Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo announced that Pele’s cancer was progressing and he needed more care due to kidney and heart disorders.

Pele, who had a tumor removed from his large intestine in September 2021, has been receiving regular treatment since then.

Pele’s daughter, Kely Nascimento, wrote on her Instagram that they will not be home for Christmas this year:

“After our evaluation with the doctors, we decided it would be better to stay here.”

The hospital initially said that Pele had “responded well to treatment for respiratory tract infection” and added that “chemotherapy treatment was being reassessed”.
