Statement after the referendum: Welcome to Russia

Vote counting in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia ended in the referendums organized by Russia on the territory of Ukraine. In the referendums, 98.42 percent of the people in Luhansk region, 87.05 percent of the people in Kherson and 93.11 percent of the people in Zaporizhia said ‘yes’ to join Russia.

After the announcement of the referendum results, in the regions Russia the national anthem was played.

Although the USA, Europe and Ukraine said that the results of the referendum on the issue did not make any sense, the response from Russia was not delayed.

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said in his first statement on Telegram, “Referendums are over. The results are clear. Welcome to your home, to Russia.”

FIRST EXPLANATION FROM UKRAINE

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who attended the United Nations (UN) Security Council meeting on Ukraine via an online link, stated that if Russia recognizes the results of the so-called referendums in Zaporizhia, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk, he has nothing to talk about with Russian President Vladimir Putin. .

Zelenskiy likened the referendums to the annexation of Crimea and said, “Russia’s view of fake referendums as normal, the attempt to annex the territory of Ukraine with the Crimean scenario means that there will be nothing to talk about with the President of Russia. Annexation is the movement that brings him against all humanity. “There is a need for such a message from every country in the world now,” he said.
