Qatar spared no expense in organizing the 2022 World Cup. Having spent more than 200 billion dollars in the last 12 years after being entitled to organize the tournament, the organizing committee built 8 new stadiums for the matches. Many projects have been implemented, especially the metro network and airport works. 10 billion dollars was spent on the construction of the stadiums alone.
On the other hand, although the organization of the tournament in Kaar is often criticized; In order to make the world’s most watched sports organization more attractive, offers were also made to famous singers. Some names, such as Eminem, turned down this offer.
In an interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood, 50 Cent revealed that he and Eminem were offered a total of $9 million to perform in Qatar. 50 Cent announced that Eminem did not accept this offer.
“I got an offer for the World Cup and they had a budget of $9 million,” said 50 Cent. “I asked Eminem’s team about it, and they said they didn’t accept it.”
It is unclear why Eminem did not perform in Qatar. However, it was alleged that Eminem did not accept this offer due to systematic discrimination against women and minorities in Qatar.
Rod Steward and Shakira also did not perform in Qatar
Rod Steward, who gave an interview to the Sunday Times newspaper, stated that he received an offer of 1 million dollars; however, he stated that he refused it. Shaqira was also expected to perform at the World Cup; however, the famous singer did not take part in any organization.
