Price statement in domestic car TOGG! Is TOGG cheaper than its competitors, how much will it cost? – Auto News

There are only a few days left for the introduction of Turkey’s domestic car Togg. The electric car, which will start to be produced in Gemlik on October 29, will go on sale in the first quarter of 2023.

Undoubtedly, the price of the vehicle is one of the most curious issues about the Togg, which will be included in the competition of the electric vehicle with the c segment SUV bodywork first.

Although Togg CEO Gürcan Karakaş says that the car will have an ‘accessible’ price policy at every opportunity, there is no official figure announced on this issue yet.

However, the change in the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) applied to electric cars last July gives clues about the price of Togg.

To be remembered, with the latest change, the new SCT rate for electric cars whose engine power does not exceed 160 kW and whose base value does not exceed 700 thousand TL has become 10 percent.

The new SCT rate of electric vehicles with the same engine power but with a base value exceeding 700 thousand TL was determined as 40 percent.

In electric cars with an engine power exceeding 160 kW, those whose base value does not exceed 750 thousand TL fall into the 50 percent tax bracket, and those that exceed 60 percent.

In the days when the regulation was made, we mentioned that Togg’s price is also likely to be affected by this change.

So much so that, according to the statements made, the rear-wheel drive (RWD) versions of Togg’s 100% electric SUV model will offer 149 kW, while the versions offering all-wheel drive (AWD) will offer 298 kW of power.

Thus, the rear-wheel drive (RWD) versions of Togg’s c-segment SUV model will be able to enter the SCT segment of 10 percent, and the versions with all-wheel drive (AWD) system will fall into the 50 percent SCT segment.

According to the new legislation, if the rear-wheel drive version of Togg’s C-SUV model has a maximum value of 700 thousand TL, it can be said that the retail sales price of the vehicle will be approximately 910 thousand TL.

This prediction we made at that time was confirmed by Tuncay Özilhan, Chairman of Anadolu Group, one of Togg’s partners.

In an interview with Dünya Newspaper, Özilhan said, “Togg remains in the 10 percent SCT segment. We calculated the SCT as 7 percent when we were doing the feasibility. There is an excess of three points in the SCT, but we can solve it, it’s not a problem. We are considering a vehicle that can be reached by Turkish citizens. “The statements confirmed the predictions made.

Well, when we look at the price of Togg, which has been announced by the most authoritative mouth, let’s take a closer look at how the vehicle is compared to its competitors.

In order for Togg’s SCT rate to be in the 10 percent segment, the tax-free price of the vehicle must not exceed 700 thousand TL.

In order for the vehicle not to exceed the 10 percent tax bracket, the retail sale price must be at most 908.6 thousand TL.

However, in every scenario where the tax-free price is below TL 700 thousand, the sales price of the vehicle may decrease below TL 910 thousand.

When comparing the price of Togg with its competitors, even if we accept that the domestic SUV model is at the upper limit of the 10 percent SCT limit, it is still seen that Togg will have a much more affordable starting price than its competitors.

So much so that all but one of the electric SUV models sold in Turkey are more expensive than Togg.

When we include electric SUV models cheaper than 2 million TL in the comparison, it is seen that models with similar dimensions and features as the Togg mostly fall into the 60 percent SCT segment.

It is noteworthy that the vehicles approaching the price of Togg are from the Far East.

On the other hand, Togg will also offer an all-wheel drive (AWD) version. Since the engine power of this vehicle will be 298 kW, its SCT will be in the SCT segment of 60 percent.

When comparing the price of the domestic electric SUV with its competitors, it is necessary to remember the statements made by Togg CEO Gürcan Karakaş in the past.

Since the first day he took office, Karakaş had been giving information to questions about the price of the vehicle that it would be ‘accessible’, as well as that it would be sold at a similar price to cars with internal combustion engines in the same segment.

Today, the prices of C segment SUV models with gasoline and diesel engines range from 900 thousand TL to 1.1 million TL. The figures reveal that Togg, which has an expensive technology such as a battery, will be sold at a competitive price against its competitors with conventional engines, apart from its electric competitors.

The price of the vehicle may not be as low as expected. However, most of the C-segment SUV models sold in the band of 250 thousand TL in 2020 and 500 thousand TL in 2021 have exceeded the 1 million TL limit today.

In summary, unfortunately, it has become more difficult to reach all cars in today’s conditions compared to previous years. In these circumstances, it would be more accurate to evaluate Togg’s price according to today’s conditions.
