According to the news in Al Jazeera, Putin directly targeted the United States, saying, “Attempts to create a unipolar world have taken an absolutely ugly form lately and are completely unacceptable.”
The two leaders held their first face-to-face meeting since the Ukraine war between the sessions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Uzbekistan.
Putin, who attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held in Uzbekistan, Iran President Ibrahim Reisi also met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhammedov and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadir Japarov.
The SCO was established in 1996, when representatives of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan met in Shanghai, China and signed the Agreement on Deepening Military Confidence in the Border Regions.
With the participation of Uzbekistan, Pakistan and India, the number of full members increased to eight.
The full membership process of Iran, which joined the SCO as an observer member in 2005, was launched in September 2021.
Turkey is a dialogue partner in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
