Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Tehran was attacked by an unidentified gunman. In the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, it was reported that as a result of the armed attack on the Tehran Embassy of Azerbaijan at around 08:30 local time, the security director of the embassy was killed and 2 security guards were injured while preventing the attack.
While it was stated that the attacker was detained by the security forces, it was announced that the investigation into the attack is continuing and that additional information will be given to the public about the details of the incident.
According to the ministry statement, the attacker killed the head of the guard with his Kalashnikov automatic weapon. It was announced that two security guards of the embassy were injured while preventing the attack, and their health conditions are good.

Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ayhan Hajizade stated that it was decided to evacuate the Embassy until the security of Tehran Embassy is ensured.
