Indian businessman Adani dethroned Jeff Bezos

Indian businessman Gautam Adani, the founder and chairman of Adani Group, became the second richest person in the world by dethroning Jeff Bezos, the founder of US e-commerce giant Amazon.

According to Bloomberg HT’s report, after Bezos’ fortune fell to $145.8 billion at 10:38 p.m. New York time, Adani ranked second on the list with a fortune of $146.9 billion.

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, is in the 1st place with a fortune of 260 billion dollars.

Analysts think the change in wealth rankings may be short-lived and is largely due to Amazon shares, which have dropped more than 26 percent this year.

LEAVE GATES AND ARNAULT BEHIND IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS

The flagship Adani Enterprises Ltd., founded by Adani, who started the year at the 14th place in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and climbed the rich list rapidly. Shares rose to record highs this week. On the other hand, companies within the Adani Group have grown by more than 1000 percent since 2020.

Adani, who surpassed Indian Mukesh Ambani as the richest Asian business person in February, also left Bill Gates and French Bernard Arnault on the list in the last two months. With this development, an Asian businessman stands out for the first time at the top of the wealth index dominated by US technology entrepreneurs.
