Speaking at the weekly press conference of the UN Geneva Office, Spokesperson of the Commission, Matthew Saltmarsh, announced the winners of the 2022 Nansen Refugee Awards.
Saltmarsh reported that the 2022 Nansen Refugee Prize will be awarded to Merkel, who opened Germany’s doors to 1.2 million Syrian refugees during the refugee crisis in 2015 and 2016.
