Speaking at the cabinet meeting, Mitsotakis said, ‘They are not only against Greece’ and claimed that Turkey is also against Europe and NATO.
Emphasizing that the armed forces are on the alert, Mitsotakis once again sought support in the international arena, stating that he had the support of his allies. The national press announced Mitsotakis’ statements to its readers on the headlines.
Mitsotakis had previously targeted Turkey with the words “Turkey is challenging our sovereign rights by undermining clear regulations”.
In an interview with Greek Prime Minister Bloomberg, he said, “It is inconceivable to accuse Greece of committing crimes against humanity on immigration,” referring to Turkey.
Claiming that Turkey is using refugees as a weapon, Mitsotakis stated that Greece rescued tens of thousands of people who were in danger at sea, protected its borders as its obligation and at the same time respected basic human rights.
TENSION STARTED WITH THE F-16 EXPLANATION
Relations between Turkey and Greece were strained after the statements of Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis in the USA.
Mitsotakis, without giving his name, referring to Turkey, ‘Greece is extending a hand of friendship to its neighbors. But we will not tolerate violations of our sovereignty, our sovereign rights and overflights over the Greek islands, which must end immediately. “I ask you members of Congress to consider the danger of a new instability on NATO’s southeast flank when making decisions about arms sales in the region.”
With these words, Miçotakis indirectly demanded not to approve the sale of F-16 aircraft to Turkey.
The Greek Prime Minister said, ‘I ask you members of Congress not to forget a wound that Hellenism has suffered greatly for 48 years and still does not heal.
