First death linked to monkeypox in the US

A person died from monkeypox in the US state of Texas. The case was recorded as the first monkeypox-related death. Texas health officials said that the patient, who was diagnosed with monkeypox, was the first person in the country to die from the virus, while the patient was an adult living in the Houston area with a weakened immune system.

Texas State Health Officer Dr. John Hellerstedt, “Monkey pox is a serious disease, especially for those with compromised immune systems. “We continue to encourage people to seek treatment if they have been exposed to monkeypox or have symptoms consistent with the disease.”

THERE ARE MORE THAN 18 THOUSAND CASE IN THE USA

The United States is currently battling the world’s largest outbreak of monkeypox. More than 18,000 cases have been reported nationwide, according to CDC data, and infections have now been confirmed in every state, including Puerto Rico and Washington DC.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, eight countries have reported a total of 15 deaths from monkeypox since the outbreak began. Deaths have previously been reported in Cuba, Brazil, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Nigeria, Spain and the Central African Republic.
