Azerbaijan Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov stated that Azerbaijan exported 7.3 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe in the first eight months of the year in terms of oil and natural gas exports. In addition, Shahbazov stated that 17.6 of the oil, which was 21.8 million tons in the eight months of 2022, was exported.

Meanwhile, he noted that in the aforementioned period, Azerbaijan exported 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas to Georgia and 5.4 billion cubic meters to Turkey. Shahbazov added that gas exports increased by 23 percent in the January-August period this year.

Total oil production in the country was 21.8 million tons and gas production was 30.6 billion m3. In addition, in the January-August period of 2022, 17.6 million tons of oil and 14.4 billion cubic meters of gas were exported.


With the completion of the TAP (Trans-Adriatic Pipeline) construction on 31 December 2020, Azerbaijan started commercial gas supplies to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor. Last year, TAP delivered 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe. Azerbaijan plans to mix 9.1 billion cubic meters of gas supply to Europe by the end of 2022, and its gas supply volume is expected to reach 11 billion cubic meters by 2023.
