35,000 train tickets for 18-year-olds from the EU

According to the statement made by the EU Commission, train tickets will be distributed within the scope of the “DiscoverEU” initiative within the Erasmus+ program.

To win the tickets, applications will be opened on the “European Youth Portal” on the internet at noon on October 11th. Applications will be received until noon on October 25.

Persons born between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2004 can apply to win the tickets. 5 short questions and 1 spare question will need to be answered to win.

With the code of the applicant, 3 more friends will be able to apply. Thus, 4 friends will have the chance to travel together.

Tickets can be used for a maximum of 30 days between March 1, 2023 and February 29, 2024.

18-year-olds, who are citizens of EU countries within the Erasmus+ program, as well as Turkey, Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway and Serbia, have the chance to win tickets.

Young people who will turn 18 in the first half of next year will be able to apply for a free train ticket in March 2023. In this application period, 35 thousand additional train tickets will be distributed.

Train ticket winners will also receive a discount card that offers more than 40 thousand discounts in areas such as public transport, cultural activities, accommodation, food and beverage and sports activities in Europe.

Since 2018, the EU has distributed 165,000 train tickets valid in Europe to young people in this way.
