Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, who is known for his closeness to the government, said in his column today that President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan offered MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli a ministry after the election on June 24, 2018, but this did not receive a response.

“Now I would like to give you a cabinet backstage. It was after the June 24, 2018 elections. President Erdoğan had met with Bahçeli before declaring the cabinet. It was said that Erdoğan offered a ministry to the MHP at that meeting. It was said that he did not need to be given a ministry from the MHP to work with the council of ministers he would form from his own party. It was even stated that before the cabinet list was announced, Erdoğan tried to contact again and measure whether there was a change in Bahçeli’s decision. It was said that he gave up on the idea of getting a minister from the MHP.

These backstages were experienced during the formation of the cabinet after the 2018 elections. It’s left behind now. But it was said that Erdogan always wanted MHP ministers to be a cabinet, while Bahçeli did not need it due to his principles. If Bahçeli wants the MHP minister to be in the cabinet, Erdogan will not avoid it.
