Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s Twitter poll about Russia’s holding of annexed Ukrainian territory drew the reaction of many, including Ukrainian President Volodomir Zelenski.

In his Twitter posts, where he proposed a “peace between Ukraine-Russia” plan, Musk suggested a re-vote under the control of the United Nations in the four Ukrainian regions that Russia illegally annexed last week. “If the will of the people is in that direction, Russia will come out,” Musk wrote.

Tesla CEO presented the view that the Crimean peninsula, which Russia illegally annexed in 2014, should also be officially recognized as part of Russia. Writing as “Crimea will officially become part of Russia, it has been since 1783”, Musk argued that the reason Crimea became Ukrainian territory was the fault of former USSR leader Nikita Khrushchev.

In Musk’s Twitter poll, about 61 percent of respondents said “no” to the Tesla CEO’s suggestions.

Ukrainian President Zelenski shared his own Twitter poll in response to Musk. In the poll, Zelenski said, “Which Elon Musk do you like more. The one who supports Ukraine or the one who supports Russia?” she asked.

The Ukrainian leader’s poll resulted in “Musk supporting Ukraine” with 81 percent.

Ukraine’s ambassador to Berlin, Andriy Melnik, who has been on the agenda with his statements since the beginning of the war, wrote on Twitter: “My very diplomatic answer to you will be fuck off Elon Musk.”
