The European Union (EU) will provide free travel to young people born in 2004 within the scope of the “DiscoverEU” project.
Candidates living in countries within the scope of the “Erasmus+” program, including the European Union and Turkey, will be able to apply for a free tour starting next month.
As a result of the draw to be held among the applicants, 35 thousand young people will have the opportunity to explore the whole of Europe for a maximum of one month by train or other sustainable means of transport.
The EU declared 2022 the European Youth Year.
The aim of this project is to enable young people to discover new cultures and establish new bonds of friendship.
Applications for free travel can be made through the European Youth Portal.
The application period, which will open on October 11, will end on October 25.
Young people aged 18 who live in EU countries and one of the third countries under the “Erasmus+” program such as Turkey, Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway and Serbia can apply for the DiscoverEU free travel project.
35 thousand young people who will be entitled to travel will be given a free travel ticket and a discount card for food, accommodation, culture, sports and other services in the countries to be visited.
EU Commission member responsible for youth Mariya Gabriel said that the DiscoverEU free travel project, which will be organized for the second time due to the European Youth Year, will make a great contribution to cultural exchange.
“Cultural exchange is more important today than it has ever been,” said Gabriel.
