According to the report, the total market for automobiles and light commercial vehicles decreased by 8.5 percent in the January-August 2022 period compared to the same period of the previous year, and became 458 thousand 446. In the January-August period of 2022, automobile sales decreased by 9.4 percent to 354 thousand 543 units, while the light commercial vehicle market contracted by 5.2 percent to 103 thousand 903 units.

Looking at the month of August, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market shrank by 17.3 percent, the automobile market by 21.3 percent, and the light commercial vehicle market by 4.3 percent. In August, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market decreased by 17.3 percent compared to August 2021 and reached 48,336 units. In August, automobile sales decreased by 21.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and became 35,230, while the light commercial vehicle market decreased by 4.3 percent to 13,106.

The automobile and light commercial vehicle market shrank by 18.2 percent compared to the 10-year average sales in August. 88.3 percent of the market consisted of vehicles in the A, B and C segments with low tax rates. C segment cars had a 49.7 percent share with 176,358 units, and B segment cars a 38 percent share with 134,896 units.

GASOLINE PREFERENCE CONTINUED

When the automobile market is evaluated by engine type, gasoline automobile sales have a 70.6 percent share with 250,401 units, diesel automobile sales have a 17 percent share with 60,316 units, hybrid automobile sales have a 9.7 percent share with 34,265 units, and autogas automobile sales have a 1.8 percent share with 6,278 units. 3,283 electric cars were sold.

In this period, cars with automatic transmission; Cars with manual transmission took a share of 77.7 percent with 275 thousand 308 units, while cars with manual transmission took a 22.3 percent share with 79 thousand 235 units.

In the light commercial vehicle market, according to the body type; While the van body type was the most preferred body type with a share of 74.4 percent and 77,310 units, the van body type took the second place with a share of 13.5 percent and 14,020 units.
